Weekend Wrap-up: Time Together in the Sun

Phil and I were busy this weekend getting some things done (as most are on the weekend) but we mostly spent a lot of time with one another which was lovely.  The weather was AMAZING the entire weekend and even made waking up at 7am to go grocery shopping bearable.  On Saturday we went to Langley to do some Birthday shopping for Phil, then visited Fort Langley for the first time since the Albion Ferry shut down.  On Sunday we did the way-too-early grocery shop, then came home to have our weekly brunch together.  In the afternoon we went on our first bike ride of the year and did some exploring in our own town.  New areas get developed so quickly it's nice to ride around to check them out.  After an extensive house cleaning (I'm really messy on the weekend), Phil made homemade pizza for dinner and we had our cupcakes from Saturday for dessert.  Yum!
Egg Cups - I actually made these on Thursday but had to share
Muffins - also made on Thursday

Weekend Wrap-Up:Bowen Island

This weekend was SUPER busy.  Well it felt busy...
On Friday evening Phil and I went (again) to the Dawg Gone Good Grill for their 'Grand Opening' and had a delicious meal there.
MC Dawg - Mac 'n Cheese with grated Cheddar
Phil pretending his gummy hot dog was his meal

I spent Saturday putting around the house trying to catch-up on chores and refinishing a coffee table.  The goal is to have most of my 'house to-do's' done by the end of fall but we'll see if that will actually happen...
On Sunday Phil and I got up (well I did at least) at the crack of 6am to go cycling on Bowen Island.
We left a smidge behind schedule (typical us), mostly due (in my opinion) to Phil not being able to find a tool of his (which I found in a few minutes, yay me).
So finally off we went, but stopped about five minutes or so from our house to get some gas.
Phil stalls his car (ha-ha, in my best Nelson voice...) and then upon restarting it makes a very loud noise.  Turns out the exhaust broke and so off to the shop we go instead to get it fixed.  PS-it was a lovely loud car ride with an added metal bouncing off concrete sound from when the exhaust pipe hits the ground.

So not long after he fixed his car we were on our way...
After arriving we headed up a VERY steep hill and then realized we were going the wrong way (boo) so after feeling a wee bit silly we ended up at Killarney Lake. (stay on Mt. Gardner Road-do NOT take Graffton Rd.!!)
So excited we made it! And I guess bananas are exciting too...
Across from the lake is a pretty awesome bike park which Phil had a great time playing around on until he bailed...

After biking back to snug cove we locked up the bikes and walked around looking for a place to eat lunch.  We got turned away from two places of the very few available on Bowen Island, once 'cause of a huge reservation and another because the kitchen was closed for the summer. WHAT!? ridiculous...
Nevertheless we found a place that would feed us and had a delicious and relaxing lunch out on the patio in the shade.

Lentil Burger w/ fries
Shortly after lunch we headed back to the mainland for a dinner with both parental units.

It was a really nice day with my Phil and also nice to visit with our families-but boy do my legs feel like jello after all that cycling!
:)
