Weekend Wrap-up: Christina Lake/Grand Forks Part 4

Kool Treat
Twister with M&Ms
Ice Cream = Happy Girl
Christina Lake
Chillin' on the Dock
Pickin' Weeds!
We only actually spent one day in Christina Lake after stopping for some ice cream along the way.  The lake was quite warm but unfortunately the air was a little on the cold side once the sun hid behind the clouds.  Another adventure of ours was exploring the Grasslands.  It wasn't entirely my cup of tea as we were basically bushwacking through the unknown.  I got a little weary after seeing a pile of bear feces, footprints and deer bones. GETMEOUTTAHERE!  We didn't stay too long after that, although I'm sure Phil would have wandered for a couple hours if I wasn't tagging along that day . . . We hopped across the highway to I believe it was still the Kettle River and enjoyed the view while some baby fish nibbled at our toes.

I thoroughly enjoyed my mini vacation on the farm and miss it already.  Until next time Grand Forks!

Weekend Wrap-up: Christina Lake/Grand Forks Part 3

Here are some more photos from the Grand Forks trip - warning the last few photos show some bare bottoms of the streakers at the baseball games I attended.  One of the poor saps wore his socks and never made it over the fence to freedom.
While on my mini vacation I took a fair number of photos and will share the last of the photos and stories tomorrow.

Weekend Wrap-up: Christina Lake/Grand Forks Part 2

Nursery Trestle Bridge
Kettle River
View from the Trail
Berries of Some Sort
The first day in Grand Forks was spent walking along part of the Trans Canada Trail, checking out the Kettle River and exploring the town.  I couldn't believe the amount of grasshoppers there were (especially on the trail) and didn't enjoy them hopping into me as they tried to leap out of the way.
Happy Days Donuts
I heard good things about the local 50's diner and since I'm a sucker for vintage inspired restaurants, Phil and I stopped in for lunch one day and enjoyed a couple of keen burgers and split a cherry coke (float).
Menu
Hot Date
Yum!
Diner Seating
Elizabeth Taylor Burger
Audrey Hepburn Veggie Burger
Havin' Fun
We took a quick detour on our way to the lake and headed up to Cascade Falls.  The hike was pretty easy (which was lucky 'cause we were both in flip flops) and the falls were gorgeous!

While on my mini vacation I took a fair number of photos (some were a little more blurry than I had intended) and will share the last of the photos tomorrow - you can see the first half here.
