At the beginning of February, Beard-O's family went to Whistler for the weekend. We shared a townhouse minutes away from Whistler Village. I have since then come to the conclusion that futons/pull-out couches and I do not mix. Ever. The ground was more comfortable... The trip was originally intended for our niece to learn to ski and it was really nice everyone could get together for a mini vacation. Beard-O and I walked around the village the night we arrived and took some pictures of the Inukshuk from last year's Olympics and a photo of the rings on Sunday. We never made it up to whistler during the actual Olympics so better late than never to snap a few photos.
Our last day in Whistler Beard-O took me on the peak2peak gondola to explore the mountain. Unfortunately it was snowing so the view wasn't spectacular but I was able to get some neat photos inside the gondola going down.
Since I'm not a winter-activity type of girl and we never get the weather to justify it, I don't own any proper snow clothes. I wore layered pants and rubber boots.
Already feeling a bit out of place, on our way down the mountain we shared a gondola with a little boy who asked Beard-O and I what we were doing on the mountain dressed the way were were (Beard-O was just wearing jeans and runners). The little boy's look to our response was priceless and I know he was thinking we were weirdos for just going up there to sight-see...maybe one day I'll get the nerve to give it a try but until then its rubber boots all the way! While we were waiting for D and J, Beard-O and I decided to check out some shops and we stopped in here. We saw Stephanie Just from Peak Season working there and after chatting her up a bit and buying a chunk of Oreo fudge we met up with D and J to have some DELICIOUS crepes at this place just before heading home. The portions were ridiculously large, then again I had no trouble polishing it off...
I worked on Valentine's day fully decked out in white red and pink. It was really nice to see people bitten by the love bug. A couple ladies received flowers from their significant others which was nice to see. I tried making these muffins but mine didn't turn out as pink after baking as I hoped they would. Sad.
Beard-O and I don't usually celebrate V-Day but this year I bought him some chocolate and he made me this awesome dinner which was mostly prepared by the time I got home. Which is the best gift of all don't you think?
The next day was our anniversary and it was awesome...
Last week I also made this awesome Lentil Stew and Mocha Brownies (heart shaped for anniversary...)
On Saturday K and I went downtown to the Health and Wellness show. I've been a few times but missed it last year. There were more samples and vendors than I remember and we walked away with a very heavy bag of samples each. Next time we go we'll remember not to eat a big breakfast...
Before heading home we walked through part of Chinatown. I have to admit it's not my favorite part of Vancouver but the Dr. Sun Yat Sen Chinese Garden was truly beautiful even in the winter. I'd love to go back in the Spring.
Okay, now it's time for homework...
